Part of the simplicity aspect discussed last week is the choice to use pressure pads as the primary and recommend method of box mag activation. Note that I really do understand the desire for auto-feeding box mags, mostly as for its convenience during an event.
While it seems a bit backwards for many, there are a number of compelling reasons to consider:
1. Installation of an auto-feed system can sometimes be require soldering, which requires some knowledge, skills and tooling that not all folks have access to.
2. Wiring the box to the replica increases overall points of failure in the system and becomes another point to troubleshoot if any issues arise.
3. While not applicable to all, when using support platforms within a group or team, auto feed wiring would have to be installed on all platforms in order for boxes to be shared. Pressure pads are external to the platform and therefore can move easily from replica to replica, as required.
4. Pressure pads allow for specific control of the box magazine by the user to ensure the feed tube is fully loaded prior to firing.
5. Use of a pressure pad and box-specific battery keeps the box mag system entirely independent of the replica.
So while scrolling the Pressure Pad and Box Activation collection on this store, you will notice that the majority of options are geared towards a pressure pad setup of some style or another.
I do however still offer an auto feed wiring harness specific for Polarstar Rev. 3 FCU's as their MCU port allows very easy integration of box magazines. Furthermore customers are free to determine their own wiring to the convienent JST connection, whether that goes to a simple switch or get powered from a different source, its all possible!
